Language Assessment
Making a language assessment for new language learners in the Embark app.
This was part of a design sprint from work. We formed teams and chose a project based on one of the user problems we were trying to solve. We made a language assessment for missionaries that might have had previous language experience in their mission language, so they don’t have to start from scratch when using the Embark app.
Understanding the Problem
Missionaries that already know a little of their mission's language don’t want to start from scratch when using Embark.
The User
Missionaries that do have background knowledge in their mission language.
The Process
Since this was a fast-paced project, I did sketches and then straight to wireframes and then a prototype. We managed to do a moderated user testing in that short time frame and brought the designs to high fidelity before showcasing them to the other teams.
Outcome & Lessons
This was a super fun project, I got to work very closely with people from different teams, and even got to help/watch how the coding got done. Knowing what could be achieved in such a short time by the developers really helped me know how to make the designs.
